About Dom
I’m Dominik Laim, a musician, music producer, mixing and mastering engineer from Switzerland.
I have been making music for over 30 years. What began with playing instruments and experimenting with sound gradually became a lifelong passion for songwriting, arranging, recording and producing music. As a multi-instrumentalist, I play guitar, piano, bass, drums and many other instruments—giving me a deep understanding of how every element of a song works together.
At the heart of my work is mixing and mastering. Over the years, I have developed a highly experienced ear for balance, depth, dynamics, tone and emotion. For me, a great mix is not simply about making everything sound polished. It is about understanding what a song wants to communicate and helping that emotion reach the listener.
Throughout my career, I have produced, arranged, mixed and mastered music for artists, churches and worship projects. I have worked with people and organisations including Matt Redman, ICF Worship, Juri Friesen and Outbreakband, and have written songs with Graham Kendrick and many other musicians and songwriters.
These experiences have allowed me to approach music from every perspective: as a musician, songwriter, arranger, producer and engineer. They have also shaped the way I listen—not only for technical perfection, but for the heart and purpose behind a song.
More recently, I started DOM IN THE WILD—a project that brings together two important parts of my life: music and nature.
I have always loved quiet places, forests, mountains, rivers and the sense of space that can only be found outdoors. With DOM IN THE WILD, I take my instruments and recording equipment into nature to create intimate musical sessions shaped by their surroundings. The natural environment is not merely a backdrop—it becomes part of the music itself.
Especially in a time when artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly significant part of music and creativity, I believe honest, human moments matter more than ever. My aim is not to create something flawless or artificial, but something real—music played by a human being, in a real place, with all the subtle imperfections and unexpected moments that make it alive.
This space is where I share my music, my creative process and the knowledge I have gained throughout more than three decades of working with sound. You can follow the journey from the first musical idea to the finished production—including playing, songwriting, arranging, recording, mixing, mastering, location scouting and the honest moments behind every Wild Session.
It is a meeting place between experience and curiosity, technology and simplicity, carefully crafted sound and the unpredictable beauty of nature.
